Merchant referral program
Effective August 2026
Bring a merchant you trust. Earn up to $3,000.
Every live VORA merchant gets a personal referral link. Send it to a business you'd vouch for, and when that business succeeds on VORA, you get paid. These are the full terms, written to be read rather than skimmed past.
$250
First milestone
Your referral finishes onboarding and completes 50 delivered orders.
$750
Second milestone
They reach their 12-month anniversary having passed $75,000 in gross sales.
$3,000
Lifetime maximum
Three successful referrals at $1,000 each. Paid in the order milestones complete.
1. Who can refer
Any VORA merchant in good standing, from onboarding onward. "Good standing" means your account is active, not suspended, and not in arrears on fees owed to VORA. You get one referral code per merchant account, issued by email once you're onboarded, so you can start sharing it straight away. Referral rewards are only earned once your own storefront is live.
Your code is yours to share directly, with other business owners, in your trade associations, in your community. It is not a public coupon: see clause 6 for where it may not be posted.
2. What counts as a qualified referral
- New to VORA. The business must not already exist in VORA's records in any form, not as a merchant, an application, or a sales lead — at the moment they click your link.
- Arrived through your link. They must reach the merchant application through your referral link. Applications submitted without a referral code cannot be credited afterwards.
- Applied within 90 days. The application must be submitted within 90 days of the first click on your link. After that the attribution expires.
- First link wins. If a business clicks links from two different merchants, credit goes to the first link they clicked, not the most recent.
- Separately owned. The referred business must be a distinct legal entity with ownership independent of yours.
- They must complete onboarding. An application alone earns nothing. The first milestone requires a live, trading storefront.
3. Definitions that decide whether you get paid
Onboarding complete Merchant agreement signed, Vorafied verification passed, menu or catalog published, payout account connected, and storefront visible to customers.
Delivered order A customer order accepted by the merchant and marked delivered or picked up. Cancelled, refunded and fraudulent orders do not count toward the 50.
Gross sales The sum of order subtotals — the customer-facing food and grocery total before tax, delivery fees and tips. This is the same basis VORA uses to calculate commission.
12-month anniversary Twelve months from the date the referred storefront went live, not from the date they applied.
The second milestone needs both conditions. $750 becomes payable on or after the 12-month anniversary and only once cumulative gross sales have passed $75,000. Reaching $75,000 in month seven does not accelerate the payment; reaching the anniversary at $60,000 does not trigger it. If both are met, it is payable at whichever point the later condition is satisfied.
4. The $3,000 cap, and the order things get paid in
$3,000 is the lifetime maximum per merchant account, three referrals at $1,000 each. Rewards are earned strictly in the chronological order that milestones complete, and any milestone that completes after your account has reached $3,000 is void.
This matters if you refer more than three businesses. If five referrals each hit their first milestone, you are paid $250 five times ($1,250 total) and those amounts count against your cap as they are paid, they are not held in reserve against a future $750. Once the running total reaches $3,000, nothing further is payable regardless of how many referrals are still progressing.
5. How and when you get paid
- Into your normal payout. Rewards are added to your regular Tuesday payout, not sent separately.
- Within 30 days of verification. VORA verifies each milestone against platform records, then includes the reward in the next payout cycle after verification, no later than 30 days from the milestone date.
- W-9 required first. A completed IRS Form W-9 must be on file before your first reward is released. Referral rewards are business income, not a discount on fees.
- 1099 at year end. If VORA pays you $600 or more in referral rewards in a calendar year, a Form 1099 is issued. You are responsible for the tax on it.
- Offsets. If you owe VORA fees, rewards may be applied against that balance before payout.
6. What disqualifies a referral
- Self-referral. A business sharing your ownership, EIN, business address, bank account, or primary contact does not qualify, whatever name it trades under.
- Already known to VORA. A business already in our pipeline — including one our own sales team was already in contact with — does not qualify.
- Public distribution. Codes posted to coupon or deal sites, used in paid search or paid social advertising, or distributed by bulk unsolicited email or SMS are void, and repeat misuse ends your participation.
- Manufactured activity. Orders placed to inflate a referral toward 50 orders or $75,000, by anyone, void the reward and may end both accounts.
- Misrepresenting VORA. Claims about pricing, verification, earnings or timelines that VORA has not published void the referral.
- Referrer no longer live. If your own storefront closes or is suspended before a milestone completes, the pending reward is forfeited. Milestones already verified are still paid.
- The referral leaves early. If a referred storefront closes before a milestone is reached, that milestone will not be paid.
7. What the referred merchant gets
Standard VORA pricing and whatever launch offer is current when they apply. Being referred neither helps nor harms their application — Vorafied verification standards are identical either way. Once they're onboarded they receive their own referral code and can take part on the same terms.
8. Changes, and what happens if the program ends
VORA may modify or end this program with 30 days' notice by email to participating merchants. Milestones already completed and verified at the end of that notice period are honored in full. Referrals in progress but not yet at a milestone are not, so if we announce an end date, that is the date to work toward.
Where these terms conflict with your Merchant Agreement, the Merchant Agreement governs. This program is additionally subject to VORA's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
9. Eligibility and legal
Open to businesses operating in VORA's active service areas within the United States. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Rewards are non-transferable and have no cash-equivalent redemption outside the payout process described in clause 5. VORA's determination of whether a milestone has been met is based on platform records and is final, though we will show you the underlying figures on request. Nothing here creates an employment, agency, partnership or franchise relationship.
